LEANNE TANDER
Leanne is Australia’s top female racing car driver, mixing it with the guys at the highest levels of Australian motor racing.
Given that she and her sister, Belinda, virtually grew up at the race track watching their father, Mark, competing, it was no surprise that the two girls took up karting in their teenage years.
After quickly climbing the ranks of Australia’s karting scene, Leanne graduated to Formula Ford in 1998 and since then has raced in many different categories including V8Supercars, Formula 3, Production Cars, Super Tourers and Porsches to name a few.
Racking up numerous “firsts” for women in motorsport throughout her career, Leanne truly raced into the spotlight in 2007 when she became the first woman in the world to win a Formula 3 race. More recently, Leanne was given the opportunity to race in the 2009 Bathurst 1000 with Wilson Security Racing where she and co-driver David Wall finished 18th in their first attempt at the Mountain.
