The trip to Winton is one that I have completed many, many times over the years. Of course my very early days of racing in the early 1960’s ventured past Benalla to Albury-Wodonga and the Hume Weir Motor Racing Circuit.
The long haul to Western Australia and across the Nullarbor is certainly a trip that Joey (Joe Sullivan – Transporter Driver) looks forward to. The trip from our headquarters in Dandenong South is just over 3,500klms and it is only the trip to Darwin that Joey prefers as he gets to spend an extra 250kms in the Volvo Globetrotter FH16 700hp prime mover.
Phillip Island is one of the world’s best permanent race tracks and is a place that requires huge commitment from the drivers especially through turn 1 where the cars are travelling at 280kmh and the long sweeping final turn through corners 11 to 12 where the cars change into 5th gear and push past 200kmh on the exit.
