2017 will again see GRM run 2 cars in Dunlop Super2 Series.
Richard Muscat will for the first time in his career have two continuous seasons racing with the same team.
Last year Richard ran in a 2013 GRM VF Commodore, finishing 8th in the championship and this year will be on the grid in a brand new Holden Commodore VF.
“To have a second year in the Dunlop Super2 Series with the same team, brand new cars and a strong engineering line-up as well, it should be a good year,” Muscat said.
“Last year for me was about adapting to a Supercar after coming from GT and Porsches, so I needed to learn how to get the most out of them without killing the rear tyres.”
“But in the last half of last year I rarely finished outside the top five or six so I’m really wanting to have more strong results and have a good crack at the title.”
Joining Richard will be 19 year old Mason Barbera. Mason is a fruit and veggie farmer from Bundaberg in QLD.
2016 was Mason’s first full season in the V8 Ute series. He finish 5th in the championship and claimed a number of race wins. Mason started his career in Karting, winning a number state and national titles.
“Being part of an amazing team now I can’t wait to the best job possible for everyone”, stated Barbera on joining GRM and stepping up to the Dunlop Super2 Series.
“My goals for 2017 are to be consistent, I will be concentrating on finishing races and learning all the new things about this category. The nerves are high, but the excitement is higher.”
The two car Dunlop Super2 Series campaign will be supported by Wilson Security, PAYCE and Valvoline.
