Career Best Finish for Wall

Finishing seventh at the Gold Coast today proves how vital car tuning is according to Wilson Security Racing’s David Wall, who says his engineers nailed it today.

Wall, who qualified 19th, and Co-Driver Chris Pither were not without dramas in this afternoon’s 102-lap race, with Pither being issued a stop-go penalty for speeding in pit lane, but recovered to hunt down the top five in the closing laps.

Qualifying for tomorrow’s 102-lap race starts at 10.55.

“It’s our best result so far but I still feel a little bit hard done by when I don’t feel I qualified the car as good as I could have. The car was very similar to what I had yesterday but I just couldn’t get through the back chicane the way I could yesterday. That was really our only problem in qualifying.

“I’ve always thought everyone’s the same out there, you’ve just got to get everything tuned up and get the result when the car’s good enough. We definitely had a good enough car today and the proof is in the pudding. We just need to make our lives a bit easier tomorrow and qualify where we should be.”

“It was all pretty positive apart from that one pit lane entry drama. It was a very late call and there was a heavily damaged car creeping down pit lane, which impeded my entry. That resulted in me running over the line a bit too fast. Thankfully we managed to bring ourselves back into a pretty nice position.

“Apart from that I was rapt. I was having a lot of fun out there. The car’s pretty good for 90% of the lap and I just enjoyed going out there and getting racy with a few guys!”

I was certainly a bit anxious going into practice one for a mix of reasons. Any lap around the Adelaide street circuit is busy, let alone when it’s a new 911 GT3 Porsche that I’m still not all that familiar in.
