Fun in the Sun for Wood in Darwin

For Team ADVAM/GB’s Dale Wood, today’s final race of the SKYCITY Triple Crown in Darwin was one of the best of the season.

Starting from 23rd on the grid, Wood made good use of his hard tyres in the first stint before moving on to softs.

With strong racing and good strategy the Team ADVAM/GB VF Commodore moved through the field, ending the 69 lap race in 11th place.

Dale Wood:

“That’s the best race I’ve had in the V8s since Adelaide and Winton. There was heaps of action and an ability to pass because of tyre degradation going on. It was great fun. At the start we weren’t great but we preferred to hurt at the start of the race. It was bloody good considering where we qualified. I feel more and more competitive. I need to work on qualifying but when I qualify well I can run in the group I qualify around. Hopefully I’m looking forward from here and there’s more of these kinds of results to come.”

Mark Winterbottom won the race from Shane Van Gisbergen.

In the V8 Supercar Championship, Wood currently sits 21st on 609 points.

Round 7 is the Townsville 500 from July 4-6.
