A soggy finish to the year for Wilson Security Racing

The heavens opened at Homebush today, bringing an end to the V8 Supercar season just halfway into the 250km feature race.

Dale Wood’s Team ADVAM/GB VF Commodore qualified 21st for the race, which started on wet tyres after a brief downpour.

The skies cleared in the early laps and Wood pitted for slick tyres on lap 5, resuming the race in 19th position.

It didn’t take long for things to turn ugly, however, with a torrential downpour drenching the circuit and leaving race control with no option but to abandon proceedings on lap 44 of the 74 lap race – Wood credited with 21st position after a brief off in the shocking conditions.

It was unfortunate with the qualifying position because the car was pretty good. I battled with Frosty for a while and that was good fun. Then the rain came on hard and the rest was history. It’s been an interesting year to say the least. We’ve learnt a hell of a lot and I look forward to building on that in 2015.
