Strong Opening Day for Wood in Perth

Team ADVAM/GB’s Dale Wood placed the foundations for a strong weekend at the Perth 400 today.

The opening day of round 5 of the V8 Supercar Championship featured three practice sessions in preparation for two 100km races tomorrow and a 200km race on Sunday.

Wood finished the first session in 17th, then a superb 6th in the second session before again finishing inside the top 10 in the final session, where he claimed 8th.

Dale Wood:

“It felt a lot better than it did at New Zealand (in the last round), it’s funny, if I didn’t have a dash in front of me with a timing screen to look at I would think ‘geez we’re struggling’ because it doesn’t feel that good.

But it’s not proving to be the case, because we seem to be competitive. I’m happy enough with the car and it seems to be responding well to changes so I think we’re in a pretty good position here. I feel more comfortable because I’m familiar with the track so I don’t have to learn the track I can just concentrate on the car and it’s nice to be back in that position.”
