Window Drama for Woods on Sunday at Symmons Plains

A small but significant technical issue contributed to a difficult race for Team ADVAM/GB’s Dale Wood at Symmons Plains on the final day of round two of the V8 Supercar championship.

Qualifying 20th for the 200km race three, Wood had a solid start but struggled for race pace.

The car developed a problem with a side window popping out – significantly affecting straightline speed.

The team rolled the dice on strategy and decided to pit later than their competitors but for Wood, the gamble didn’t pay off and he finished 24th

Dale Wood:

“The window killed my straight line speed. It wasn’t the full answer to the result but it was a factor. The race just didn’t go the way I wanted. We didn’t have great pace so we tried a strategy call that relied on a safety car but unfortunately a safety care never came. We were definitely more competitive in qualifying but still not rapt about how the race went. It’s a help that Winton is coming straight up. Hopefully we can get a better result there”.

Round three of the championship kicks off at Winton Motor Raceway in Benalla on Friday.
